Weber: New Discoveries - Concertante Works & Arias [CD]

Diyang Mei – Weber: New Discoveries - Concertante Works & Arias [CD]

Carl Maria von Weber's early years were famously unsettled, with constant travel, money troubles and a risk-loving father always in tow, yet he still poured out imaginative, successful music. This programme gathers five works from that turbulent time, mostly concertante variations on tunes that were sure to win applause.

Weber's kaleidoscopic transformations and idiomatic solo writing give them an appeal far beyond the fashions of the day, and the result is as virtuosic as it is entertaining. Single CD on cpo.

Genre: Classical, Orchestral, Romantic.
