About Drowned World Records | LGBTQ+ & BIPOC-Owned Record Store
Who We Are
Drowned World Records is an independent, LGBTQ+ and BIPOC-owned record store based in Seattle, Washington. We've been fighting for independent music culture since 2021 — and thanks to our community, we're still here.
⭐ 4.8 out of 5 stars · 1,000+ verified customer reviews · Billboard chart-reporting store since 2024
We run mostly online, with the occasional pop-up or warehouse sale, but the heart of what we do is bringing music to life for a community that cares.
We Report to the Billboard Charts — Your Purchase Counts
In 2024 we joined Luminate — Billboard's official chart source. That means every order you place with us doesn't just support an independent store. It counts toward the charts, signaling to labels and artists that our community moves music. The more we chart, the more leverage we have to secure exclusives, rare variants, and early drops for you. Amazon can't do that. We can.
40,000+ Titles, Sourced Fresh for You
We list over 40,000 titles — but we're not a warehouse. We're a small but mighty operation connected to 10+ distribution partners and labels worldwide. Some titles ship fast. Others take weeks to hunt down. That's the trade-off: you're not buying from a faceless megastore. You're buying from real people who chase the records you want because they matter.
Your Money Stays in the Community
Every purchase fuels independent music culture — not corporations that bankroll bad politics, culture wars, or worse. We're growing, hiring, and learning as we go. There may be bumps along the way, but your support is what keeps independent music retail alive.
