Texture Songs [CD]

Chuck Roth – Texture Songs [CD]

Texture Songs is an expressive, intimate album from New York guitarist Chuck Roth, following last year's watergh0st songs. Where that record mapped voices, this one is about materiality: across seven tracks he digs into the particularities of his Stratocaster, from its pickups to its capacity for volume swells, hitting ringing harmonics on "Gun" and sustained buzzing on "Siren".

The presentation is raw and close, so on "Highway" you can almost hear him breathing in the room, while "Hometown Hero" is a turbulent, damaged-chord portrait of a changing city. CD edition on Palilalia.

Genre: Experimental, Singer-Songwriter.
