Kalle Kalima & Mareike Wiening – Sinfonia de la Santa Muerte [CD]

Berlin-based guitarist Kalle Kalima and Vienna-based drummer Mareike Wiening take the name of their duo from La Santa Muerte, the crowned skeletal figure of Mexican folk belief who embodies both mortality and protection, honored with roses, cigars and tequila.

Guitar and drums lock into a tight, interwoven language that grows through interaction: raw, immediate and unrestrained, with an intensity that bridges experimental rock and contemporary jazz. On CD from TYXart.

Genre: Contemporary Jazz, Experimental Rock, Improvisation, Jazz.
