Robert Hood & Radio Slave - Radio Hood [12"]

Celebrating the 300th release and 20th anniversary of the Rekids label, Detroit legend Robert Hood and Rekids boss Matt Edwards (aka Radio Slave) collaborate for the first time on the double-A side "Radio Hood."

Hood first appeared on Rekids with iconic remixes of Radio Slave's "Don't Stop No Sleep" in 2015, followed by Floorplan remixes of "Feel The Same" in 2017, and went on to drop two EPs and the acclaimed Mirror Man LP between 2020 and 2021. Now their long-gestated collaboration arrives, complete with an alternative "Version" mix.

Both producers are best known for a minimalist approach, but "Radio Hood" and "Radio Hood (Version)" flip the script with rich textures and sweeping synths. The original is spacious, with persistent stabs pulsing from start to finish, while the Version is a nearly ten-minute stunner with sweeping, emotive strings, a subtly growling Reese bassline and serious emotional impact.
