But if there was ever a group to lay claim to the mantle, the suitably named outfit GOD would be it. Featuring John Zorn, Tim Hodgkinson of Henry Cow, Justin K Broadrick of Napalm Death and Godflesh, and a rotating cast of avant-garde legends, GOD made a holy racket worthy of its fine and varied pedigree on its 1992 debut album Possession, an industrial jazz mixture of crushing chords reminiscent of Swans with free jazz skronk recalling early '70s Miles Davis at his most atonal, punctuated by unexpected moments of fragile beauty. This first-ever LP release comes remastered for the format in double-barreled tan smoke vinyl housed inside a gatefold jacket.
