Ormandy Conducts Sibelius [2CD]

Eugene Ormandy – Ormandy Conducts Sibelius [2CD]

Eugene Ormandy was among the first great conductors to record Jean Sibelius' symphonies. His Second Symphony dates from as early as 1947 and his Fifth from 1954, and critics maintain that although he later recorded both in stereo, he never matched the extraordinary results of these mono versions.

Despite their age, both symphonies, along with the other Sibelius works on the set, come across in superb sound. A 2CD set from Urania Records for lovers of Sibelius and classic conducting.

Genre: Classical, Orchestral.
