Music Like Dirt / I'll Give It To You [7"]

The Actions & The Tonettes – Music Like Dirt / I'll Give It To You [7"]

A superb slice of rare rocksteady first issued in Jamaica in 1968, credited to The Actions there and to The Lyrics in the UK (the group is sometimes known as The Splendors, too). "Music Like Dirt" is a rolling, soulful rocksteady cut with the kind of easy groove that made the era so loved.

On the flip, the all-girl group The Tonettes deliver the addictively catchy "I'll Give It To You". Original copies of this 45 change hands for serious money, so this Soul Jazz Records 7" reissue is a welcome chance to own both sides without the collector price tag.
