Méthode des Méthodes de Moscheles et Fétis [CD]

Daniel Grimwood – Méthode des Méthodes de Moscheles et Fétis [CD]

In 1840 Ignaz Moscheles, pianist to Prince Albert and teacher of Mendelssohn, joined Belgian theorist François-Joseph Fétis to produce a "Method of Methods": one encyclopedic treatise distilling the best of the great piano teachers before them, from the first lesson to the outer limits of virtuosity.

Its crowning glory was a set of Études de Perfectionnement commissioned from the era's leading pianist-composers, including Chopin, Liszt, Thalberg, Mendelssohn and Henselt, alongside names less known today. Pianist Daniel Grimwood brings this famous collection to CD for Danacord.

Genre: Classical, Romantic.
