Like Lambs: To The Slaughter, Empirical's eighth album and second release for Whirlwind Recordings, expands the award-winning UK jazz group's sound with a more flexible lineup. Core members Nathaniel Facey on alto saxophone, Tom Farmer on double bass and Shaney Forbes on drums are joined by longtime collaborators Ivo Neame on piano and David Preston on guitar.

Built from a radical reworking of Forbes' unconventional long-form suite, the album unfolds as an uninterrupted 51-minute musical narrative. It moves through contemporary classical textures, soundscape, post-bop and free jazz, shifting between tension, release and unsettling emotional peaks while preserving Empirical's remarkable virtuosity and musical empathy.

This 180-gram double-black 2LP edition is housed in a gatefold sleeve, with music across sides A-C and an etched Whirlwind logo on side D.
