Högalidsmässan - A Sanctuary Mass [CD]

Gustaf Sjökvists Kammarkör – Högalidsmässan - A Sanctuary Mass [CD]

Högalidsmässan - A Sanctuary Mass was commissioned for the centenary of Stockholm's Högalidskyrkan, a landmark of National Romantic architecture, and premiered there in 2023 as the renovated church reopened. Composed by Matthew Peterson to a text by former vicar Gunilla Linden, it sets the traditional Mass in Swedish.

Its six movements, Kyrie, Gloria and Laudamus, Credo, Sanctus, Agnus Dei and Benedicamus, each connect to objects and symbols within the church, exploring creation and human existence through both praise and anguish. Performed by Gustaf Sjökvists Kammarkör on CD from Proprius.

Genre: Choral, Classical, Contemporary Classical.
