Anaïs Mitchell's folk-opera retelling of the Greek myth follows the young songwriter Orpheus (Reeve Carney) as he journeys to the underworld to win back his love Eurydice (Eva Noblezada) from the industrial kingdom of Hades (Patrick Page), with Amber Gray as Persephone and André De Shields as the narrator Hermes.
Filmed across live performances at London's Lyric Theatre in 2025 and directed for the screen by Brett Sullivan, it became the highest-grossing live stage capture in cinemas. Songs include "Wait for Me," "Why We Build the Wall" and "Way Down Hadestown."
