Following the 2020 Grotto Sessions LP, Grotto Sessions 2 continues a tribute to the blues, gospel, folk and rural traditions of the American South, again made in collaboration with the Music Maker Relief Foundation. Three young French musicians, Clément, Raphaël and Simon, shared stages and everyday life with artists the foundation supports, among them Captain Luke, Big Ron Hunter, John Dee Holeman, Alabama Slim and Ironing Board Sam.

Named after The Grotto, the foundation's recording studio in North Carolina, the project draws on twenty years of archive recordings entrusted to the trio by founder Tim Duffy. They dug up a cappella songs, some recorded more than twenty years ago, and built their own instrumental compositions around them, bringing overlooked voices like Etta Baker, Neal Pattman and Cora Fluker back into the light.
