Giovanni Sgambati: Complete Piano Works [7CD Box Set]

Francesco Caramiello – Giovanni Sgambati: Complete Piano Works [7CD Box Set]

Giovanni Sgambati, a pupil of Liszt and friend of Wagner, was with Martucci the leading figure in the revival of Italian instrumental music in an age dominated by opera. His piano works, rooted in German Romanticism but full of Italian lyricism, range from nocturnes and concert studies to suites, gavottes and transcriptions.

Neapolitan pianist Francesco Caramiello, a reference interpreter of Sgambati, plays the complete piano works, including world-premiere recordings. This 7CD box set gathers Tactus's complete Sgambati recordings to mark the label's 40 years.

Genre: Classical, Romantic.
