Blues Icons: From the Delta to the City [LP]

Various Artists - Blues Icons: From the Delta to the City [LP]

Blues Icons: From the Delta to the City follows the blues from its raw acoustic roots in the rural South to the amplified clubs of the northern cities in thirteen landmark recordings. Side A covers the foundations: Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell, Blind Blake, Leadbelly, Big Bill Broonzy and Robert Johnson's 'Cross Road Blues'. Side B turns electric with T-Bone Walker, Elmore James, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Jimmy Reed and John Lee Hooker's 'Boom Boom'.

Compiled by the vintage specialists at Acrobat and pressed on black vinyl as a single LP, it works as a primer for newcomers and a fine spin for longtime fans.
