Annie Lennox's first holiday record reworks a set of traditional carols in her own register, trading sentimentality for something closer to hymn and incantation. Lennox handles piano, flute, harmonium, marimba and more across the album, with Mike Stevens on bass, guitar and arrangements and percussion from Barry Van Zyl and Mark Stevens.

The African Children's Choir appears throughout. The set closes with Purcell's "Dido's Lament" and includes one Lennox original, "Universal Child."
