A twelve-track career-spanning album of previously unreleased songs, B-sides, 7” tracks and covers, that span the band’s nearly two decades of musicianship. Where the term “consistency” can suggest cold stasis, “reliability” is a fittingly warm, emotional descriptor of the simple and unshakeable love for making music with which Signals Midwest has navigated the last 17 years. This is a band that has outlasted its peers (some of whom are on second and third reunions), outlasted waves and trends, and outlasted the punk houses and clubs it used to play. Taken not in isolation, but fleshing out the big picture, Layovers exists to fill in the blanks and provide snapshots of the band they have been along the way. Equal parts archival and nostalgic, the collection is a “thank you” to the Signals Faithful, laying the groundwork for something to look forward to in another couple decades. ¡Viva Los Siggies!
