The Darkness are back. With a chart history of 5 x Top 10 singles (including the smash ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’ and the perennial ‘Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End)’, 3 x Top 10 and 2 x Top 15 albums (including their debut ‘Permission To Land’ which is 4 x Platinum) they return with the follow up to 2017’s Top 10 album ‘Pinewood Smile’ with the self produced ‘Easter Is Cancelled’ due for release on 4th October 2019. The album launches with the epic 5 minute + opus ‘Rock And Roll Deserves To Die’ on 6th August 2019 This is swiftly followed by the first single proper ‘Heart Explodes’ on 16th August, the day that The Darkness kick off a run of six shows as the main support to Ed Sheeran in Leeds and Ipswich – with an estimated total audience of 250,000. Live is where The Darkness are fully appreciated and they have played alongside everyone from Queen, Guns’n’Roses, Lady Gaga, Hollywood Vampires, Black Sabbath, Def Leppard, Toto, Robbie Williams and now Ed Sheeran amongst many others. The band have sold over 3 million concert tickets around the world since 2003, and have played more than 300 festival shows. They have toured in the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the USA, and South America. In 2004 the band won three Brit Awards: Best British Group, Best British Rock Act, and Best British Album, they had a song played at the Super Bowl in 2012, as part of a Samsung advert, and in 2016 Taylor Swift appeared in the Apple Music ad Dance Like No One's Watching which has over 2.2m views.
