Masahiko Sato, who has been exploring free improvisation for half a century, has come into contact with the revered Yuji Takahashi in this rare session. This is a valuable record that shows the height of Masahiko Sato's achievements. This 2020 performance is a "complete improvisation" by two pianists: Yuji Takahashi, whose background is contemporary music, and Masahiko Sato, whose work is based in jazz. It was performed without any prior consultation or prearrangements, and without a course or destination. All that existed was the "sound" and "vibrations" each emitted. It was a trajectory of "communication" generated by sensing each other's "vibrations" and transmitting the resulting "vibrations" to the keyboard. As the astronomical term "Open Cluster" suggests in the title, it refers to a space in which sounds born simultaneously are still in close proximity to one another.
