Collection: Used Music

This is where you'll find all of our used music — with a special focus on used Japanese pressings.

A small note on Japanese vinyl:

Starting in the late '70s, US-manufactured records were often pressed using recycled vinyl, resulting in noisier playback and stretched-out pressings from worn stampers. Japanese record companies, on the other hand, used virgin vinyl and ran smaller batches, leading to dead-quiet, high-fidelity pressings that are still coveted today.

Many Japanese releases were also remastered specifically for their market, often revealing sonic details you may have never heard before — even on albums you know by heart.

One more bit of trivia: ever heard of MoFi (Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs)? For years, they had their audiophile records pressed by JVC in Japan using a vinyl compound known as Super Vinyl — an exceptionally durable, low-noise formula. Most of these “Super Vinyl” records appear as a deep, translucent brown under light, and we’ll note this in product descriptions whenever it appears — it’s a sign of serious quality.

Beyond the sound, Japanese releases often used higher-quality jacket stock, which means even decades-old copies can look near-mint. Many also include unique extras like OBI strips, lyric sheets, and liner notes in both Japanese and English — making these editions collectible for more than just their audio fidelity.
