Breaking The Circle is Ellis-Bextor's first new release since featuring on RHYME SO's January single "DEEP IN VOGUE", and is, in her own words, "inspired by those late-night moments you have, where you question everything and feel a buzz of adrenaline about what tomorrow might bring. It's urgent and dramatic and optimistic… the perfect introduction to the new album." HANA will follow Ellis-Bextor's 2016 album Familia, and was created alongside frequent collaborator Ed Harcourt. He describes the album as "kaleidoscopic joy". The album is inspired by East Asia, and started with the album track "Tokyo", which followed Ellis-Bextor's first trip to Japan in 2020 before the pandemic.
