The new Wagram Music compilation introduces itself with the tagline "Eurodance is back!" but, for us, it never went away. The glossy heyday of 90s and 00s Eurodance - when streaking basslines, scintillating synth hooks and punchy vocals stormed the charts and booths alike, topping off the rave with an affectful but wilfully artificial cheese - is revisited and reproduced like recombinant fine wine on this French import. We've got Haddaway's indestructible 'What Is Love', Robert Miles trance threnody 'Children', and the fizzy pop fluorocarbon that is O-Zone's 'Dragostea Din Tei'. Elsewhile unmistakables like 'Rhythm Is A Dancer', 'Show Me Love', 'The Rhythm Of The Night' and 'Freed From Desire' further round off the compilation as one that knows the essentials and doesn't skimp on them; they simply cannot be refused by the aspiring cheese jockey.
