Ludovico Einaudi may be the most-streamed classical artist in the world - around 9 billion streams a year at the last count - but as an individual, he retains an eternal sense of mystery. It is a surprise, then, that a video for his single "Rose Bay" features intimate holiday footage from his boyhood: Ludovico at seven or eight, vacationing at Bocca di Magra near the coast of northern Tuscany. His new work, released at the beginning of 2025, The Summer Portraits, is a lush return to full-band textures in the manner of 2013's In A Time Lapse and is the result of a cascade of personal memories triggered by sun, summer, family holidays, and a recent move back to Torino, the town where he spent his childhood. Leo Einaudi has skillfully reworked several tracks from The Summer Portraits album, infusing them with his summer memories, fresh nuances, and rich textures, which are set to be released throughout the summer of 2025.
