A beautiful name “Kraak & Smaak” has the Leiden DJ formation consisting of Oscar de Jong, Wim Plug and Mark Kneppers. Despite or perhaps thanks to this very Dutch name, they have managed to break quite a few pots internationally. For example, they were already at high-profile festivals such as Glastonbury, Sziget, Lowlands but also on the other side of the pond they were at many a big festival such as SXSW and Coachella. What is their success? A tasteful melting pot of electronic, soul, funk, house and pop that listens clear away. But also international guest vocalists who provide extra tension. On their seventh album “Velvet Seas” in the 22 years they have existed this time PWNT (Rio Kosta), Butter Bath, The Undercover Dream Lovers and Kainalu for extra vocal power. They also received support from IVAR, Izo Fritzroy and Berenice van Leer who ensure that Kraak & Smaak can build a party anywhere. The organic warm sound of Kraak & Smaak is like an all-man friend, does not get bored quickly and works fine to write a review. (Frank de Bruin)
