Hotflush label boss Paul Rose, aka Scuba, returns with a vinyl-only EP for Record Store Day UK 2026, now available to all. ‘Petrology’ covers the widest stylistic range of Scuba productions, and hints at the breadth and variety of atmospherics found on his last full studio album, ’Claustrophobia’, all the way back in 2015. Opening track ‘Homing Device’ sets a brutal tone which gives way to the shimmering techno of ‘Puppets’. Side A is closed out by the title track, a dual-parted excursion into ambience and overdriven percussion. Side B consists of the three parts of ‘Tío’. The extended track opens with DnB inflections, gradually unfolding into deep dub structures and finally resolving into abstract rhythm and melody. ‘Petrology’ is presented as a strictly limited press on transparent blue vinyl.
