The Night Of The Purple Moon [2LP]

Sun Ra - The Night Of The Purple Moon [2LP]

The Night of the Purple Moon is a 1970 small-group session from Sun Ra, first issued on his own Saturn label. It's one of his most compact and approachable records: short, bluesy pieces built around the buzzing sound of the Rocksichord electric keyboard and Mini-Moog.

Ra is joined by John Gilmore (mostly on drums), Danny Davis on alto sax and flute, and Stafford James on electric bass. Reissued by the Sun Ra specialists at Cosmic Myth Records.
