Ryuichi Sakamoto - Silk (Original Soundtrack) [2LP]

Ryuichi Sakamoto's score for François Girard's 2007 film SILK receives its first-ever vinyl release. Following the film from Europe to Egypt, Russia and Japan, the music is rooted in a classical sensibility: melancholy strings cross the snowy Siberian plains in "First Trip to Japan", the solo piano of "Snowy Village" (recorded at Glenn Gould Studio in Canada) hangs in the cold air, and "The Girl" pairs arpeggiated piano with a softly wavering violin. Separate themes mark each journey, while "Revolution" turns suddenly dark, a vivid showcase of Sakamoto's remarkable range.

Japanese import on 180g black vinyl. From Commmons.
