Robert Chumbley: Music for Voice, Piano & Orchestra [CD]

Ricardo Herrera – Robert Chumbley: Music for Voice, Piano & Orchestra [CD]

Miami-born Robert Chumbley has been a concert pianist, conductor for the Atlanta Ballet and Cleveland Opera, academic and composer, and his music keeps a healthy dialogue with tradition. Permutations for piano and orchestra nods to Liszt and Prokofiev, Brahmsiana II grows from late Brahms, and the Five Bagatelles balance lyricism with bite.

The centrepiece, The Letter, sets Beethoven's impassioned 1812 letter to his 'Immortal Beloved' as a dramatic cantata for baritone and orchestra. Single CD on Toccata Classics.

Genre: Classical, Contemporary Classical, Orchestral.
