Bavarian Radio Chorus – Pēteris Vasks: Missa, Pater Noster & Da Pacem Domine [CD]
A live recording of the gala concert celebrating Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks's 80th birthday, given at Munich's Herz-Jesu-Kirche by the Bavarian Radio Chorus and the Munich Radio Orchestra under Ivan Repušić. Three sacred works for choir and strings: the meditative Pater noster, the peace prayer Da pacem, Domine, and the revised Missa, with its haven of calm built from long, glowing lines and Baltic folk colour.
A single CD on BR-Klassik, the third Vasks album from the Munich Radio Orchestra and Repušić. Music by a self-described 'sad optimist' that aims to nourish the soul.
Genre: Choral, Classical, Contemporary Classical.
