Pēteris Vasks: Gadalaiki (The Seasons) [CD]

Terezie Fialová – Pēteris Vasks: Gadalaiki (The Seasons) [CD]

Czech pianist Terezie Fialová records Gadalaiki (The Seasons), the extensive piano cycle by Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks, written between 1980 and 2008. It is only the fourth complete recording of the work, which, though composed piece by piece over decades, forms a remarkably compact whole.

Inspired by the changing seasons of Nordic nature, the music moves through vivid contrasts of mood and color, carrying the deep spirituality and humanism that have made Vasks one of the most widely performed living composers from the Baltics. On CD from the Czech label Animal Music.

Genre: Classical, Contemporary Classical, Piano.
