The Heliocentrics - Out There [Vinyl 2LP]

Led by drummer Malcolm Catto, London's Heliocentrics made their name with this 2007 Now-Again debut, a heavy, hypnotic blend of breakbeat funk, cosmic jazz, psychedelia and electronic textures.

Think James Brown's rhythm section crossed with Sun Ra's sense of orbit, Morricone's widescreen drama and David Axelrod's arrangements. Catto has worked with Madlib, and the band backed DJ Shadow on The Outsider. Pressed on two LPs.
