J.S. Bach: Inventions & Sinfonias, BWV 772-801 [CD]

Jangoo Chapkhana – J.S. Bach: Inventions & Sinfonias, BWV 772-801 [CD]

Bach's 15 two-part Inventions and 15 three-part Sinfonias began in the music notebook he started for his eldest son Wilhelm Friedemann in 1720. Often thought of as teaching pieces, they are sophisticated small-scale masterpieces, written to teach players not just technique but cantabile playing and the craft of composition.

Organist, harpsichordist and conductor Jangoo Chapkhana plays them on organ, a Flentrop copy of the 1753 Müller organ at the English Reformed Church in Amsterdam, with its specification in the booklet. CD on Brilliant Classics.

Genre: Classical, Baroque.
