Strong album debut from the surf-psych-groove instrumental trio Goblyns. Hunki Bobo doesn't need to hide behind the likes of The Meters, W.I.T.C.H, Khruangbin, and Can — just some of the bands the psych rock newcomers cite as influences on their sound. Founded in South Africa, the three band members now live in Berlin and Amsterdam, where they also wrote the songs for their debut album.

The eight tracks on Hunki Bobo were recorded in a five-day studio frenzy in sultry July 2023 under the experienced direction of Andre Leo, best known for his work with Medicine Boy and Wombed. Together with the musicians, Leo helped create something with a unique dynamic, full of energy — every song radiates a groove that is hard to resist. Whether dark krautrock hypnosis, groovy surf, or psychedelica, Goblyns captivate the listener throughout the entire album.
