La Serenissima – Crossing Borders 2 [CD]
La Serenissima and director Adrian Chandler continue their exploration of 18th-century musical travel across the Italian border. Here are Vivaldi concertos written on his trips to Vienna and Prague, a French-style suite by Brescianello from the Württemberg court, and music by Corbett and Ariosti, two Italianate composers with shadowy careers as suspected spies.
Telemann's Ouverture-Suite in A minor rounds things off. A single CD on Signum Classics from one of Britain's liveliest Baroque bands.
Genre: Classical, Baroque, Orchestral.
