Valley Of Jehosaphat [2LP]

Augustus Pablo - Valley Of Jehosaphat [2LP]

Augustus Pablo's 1970s recordings helped lay the groundwork for modern reggae, and he kept developing his sound for the next two decades. He used digital techniques to push his dub further and widened the range of instruments around his bass-heavy melodica grooves. The Jamaican musician and producer kept experimenting for the rest of his life.

Valley of Jehosaphat came out in 1999, a few weeks before Pablo's early death, and it was his final album. It stays true to his vision. The sound is much cleaner than the grainy early classics, which lets the hypnotic instrumental arrangements come through clearly and brings out the calm, meditative side of his music.

This 2LP set from Nature Sounds and the relaunched Rockers International is the album's first full release on vinyl. It also adds five bonus tracks of rare 1990s Augustus Pablo material.
