Sound City Joburg 1969-1981 [2LP]

Various Artists - Sound City Joburg 1969-1981 [2LP]

In the 60s and 70s, American soul and funk landed in South Africa, where Johannesburg musicians fused it with traditional rhythms and jazz into a style dubbed "Township Soul." Facing apartheid pass laws, curfews and police harassment, they risked everything to break into the city's fiercely competitive scene.

Analog Africa's Sound City Joburg 1969-1981 gathers 22 tracks from that era on 140g 2LP, with a gatefold cover, a 16-page booklet and a download card.
