Vocalconsort Leipzig – Part Songs & Chansons [CD]

The English part song and the French chanson grew from different traditions, but both chase beauty and aim straight for the listener. Under Franziska Kuba, Vocalconsort Leipzig brings them together in a program of 20th-century a cappella works by Edward Elgar, Benjamin Britten, Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel.

For all their stylistic differences, the pieces share a sensitivity to text and the distinctive sound of unaccompanied voices, sung here with youthful freshness, real joy and crystalline blend. On CD from Genuin.

Genre: A Cappella, Choral, Classical.
