Modern Art Trio [CD]

Franco D'Andrea - Modern Art Trio [CD]

The Modern Art Trio was a Rome group of pianist Franco D'Andrea (also soprano saxophone and electric piano), bassist Bruno Tommaso and drummer Franco Tonani (also trumpet and slide whistle). Its only album was recorded in Rome on 17-18 April 1970 and first issued on the Vedette label.

The music applies serial and twelve-tone ideas to free improvisation and hard bop. This licensed Gleam Records reissue was remastered from the restored original analog tapes by Jeremy Loucas at Sear Sound in New York, with new liner notes and an essay by Luca Bragalini. The CD comes in a gatefold package with a booklet.
