Louis XV – Un Règne de Paradoxes [3CD]

Jérôme Hélie – Louis XV – Un Règne de Paradoxes [3CD]

A French-language audio biography of Louis XV, analyzed and explained by historian Jérôme Hélie, a specialist in international relations in early modern Europe, published with Presses Universitaires de France. Though he reigned for nearly half of the 18th century, Louis XV remains little known, remembered mostly for a furniture style and personal scandals.

Hélie shows a far more complex king: reluctant to rule, then governing with determination, pushing reforms that broke with the Ancien Régime and foreshadowed the Revolution, while losing most of France's overseas possessions to England. Spoken in French across 3 CDs, from Frémeaux & Associés.

Genre: Spoken Word.
