Trio 1790 – Leopold Koželuch: 15 Piano Trios [5CD]
Leopold Koželuch was once a celebrated rival to Mozart in Vienna and a true pioneer of the fortepiano. His keyboard trios capture the essence of the Classical era, blending melodic grace with dramatic, forward-looking turns that point toward Beethoven, plus some catchy Scottish folk flavour.
Trio 1790 play on period instruments with real elegance across this five-CD set of 15 piano trios on cpo, a generous way to discover a composer who deserves far more attention.
Genre: Chamber Music, Classical.
