One of the original exponents of the true "Miami Sound" was Orquesta Suprema a well-oiled twelve-piece salsa orchestra that were extremely popular in the early to mid - 1970s in the Miami area catering to the huge influx of Cuban emigres. Their brand of salsa mixed with explosive Afro-Cuban rhythms was contagious and when Suprema played a dance they drew thousands of people with little or no advertising. Their ultra-rare albums are now highly prized by Cuban music enthusiasts.
