Jazzy Sport Past Forward: Silver [LP]

Various Artists - Jazzy Sport Past Forward: Silver [LP]

Jazzy Sport began in Tokyo as a record shop, label and creative collective, and it became known for a warm, crate-digging mix of hip-hop, jazz, house and live instrumentation. Past Forward: Silver is the first release from its new London arm. The idea is to look back at the Jazzy Sport sound and hand it on to a new generation, linking Japanese and UK club culture.

The compilation was put together by Nina Yamada. It features Jazzy Sport stalwarts Cro-Magnon, Grooveman Spot, Nubian Lady, Physical Sound Sport and Bottom Fly, and it includes two remixes: DJ Mitsu The Beats reworks Cro-Magnon's 'Eclipse', and the Idjut Boys take on 'Riding The Storm'. The six tracks move between head-nodding beats, soulful house and kalimba-tinged grooves.

This is a single LP for DJs and collectors who follow Japanese jazz-funk, beat music and leftfield house.
