Habibi Funk 037: Markab [CD]

Kazdoura - Habibi Funk 037: Markab [CD]

Kazdoura was formed in Toronto by Syrian vocalist Leen Hamo and Lebanese multi-instrumentalist John Abou Chacra. Markab, their follow-up to the debut Ghoyoum, blends Arabic maqamat with a groove-driven band sound drawing on psychedelic and Anatolian rock, indie, jazz, Afrobeat and Gnawa, with Hamo's vocals over Abou Chacra's guitar, saxophone and flute.

Across ten tracks the album deals with homeland, love, social expectations and self-image alongside everyday pleasures and freedom. This is the CD edition, number 037 in the Habibi Funk series.
