Haas & Liszt: Gerit Lense Vol. 3 [CD]

Gerit Lense – Haas & Liszt: Gerit Lense Vol. 3 [CD]

Pianist Gerit Lense sets out to illuminate the personalities and styles of two composers, Joseph Haas and Franz Liszt, by tracing their lives through their piano music. He pairs works written when each composer was around 40 with pieces from much later in life, when Haas was about 65 and Liszt about 72.

The result is a thoughtful study of how a composer's voice changes with age, and a welcome showcase for the lesser-known Haas beside Liszt. The third volume in Lense's series, on CD from Ars Produktion.

Genre: Classical, Romantic.
