Largely self-produced with assistance from Paul Leavitt, the record features a revised lineup-including guitarist Matt Kennedy and drummer Ben Cato-that contributed to a thicker, "wall-of-sound" aesthetic, moving further away from their pop-punk roots into "anthem emo" territory.

Shortly after it's release, tensions between members culminated in a messy breakup and a four-year hiatus, making this album the band's "final goodbye" until their 2018 reunion.
