Brinkmann, Thomas - GETGETGET [LP]

Editions Mego presents GETGETGET, a new release by Thomas Brinkmann that serves as an inquiry into silence, code, and the limits of perception. The title references the trilogy of "Get" LPs made by Peter Rehberg under his PITA moniker — Get Out, Get In, and Get On — with the music based on material by Rehberg and Brinkmann, morphing the two identities into a third, disappearing color. The work emerged from a live performance at the label's 30th anniversary in Berlin.

Taking inspiration from Günther Anders' notion of "negative music" and Heinrich Böll's idea of "collected silence," Brinkmann treats pauses not as gaps but as structural elements, cut from a continuum and reinserted as signals. The two side-long tracks weave a dark, abstract, "twisted" presence where the ghosts of the machines and their operators fuse into a hallucinatory whole — an album where absence is equal to presence.
