J.D. Slater, sometimes called "the Lou Reed of gay porn", came up through the New York punk scene, where his band Frenzy opened for Talking Heads and Blondie at CBGB. In 1999 he co-founded Raging Stallion Studios with Chris Ward and went on to act, direct and compose for the studio.

Elbow Deep In The Hoopla collects his never-before-released scores for three late-1990s Club Inferno films: At Arm's Length, Hand Over Fist and Heads or Tails. They show Slater going deeper into the loop-based sampling and electronic production of the era, with trance-inducing grooves laced with acid and brooding ambience, from the Gregorian feel of "Grand Fuck" to the lurching "Stallion Funk".

Pressed on black vinyl, it comes with an insert featuring an interview with Slater.
