Artfullee [LP]

Giacomo Smith - Artfullee [LP]

Former Kansas Smitty's leader Giacomo Smith, an award-winning figure in British jazz, steps out for the first time with a straight-ahead quartet playing his own tunes. Joe Webb (piano), Anders Fjeldsted (bass) and Snorre Kirk (drums) learned his sketches by ear, with no written charts, and the chemistry shows. Mostly in minor keys, Artfullee is what Smith calls 'night music': pensive, romantic and full of memorable melody.

Smith moves between soprano and alto saxophone, clarinet and bass clarinet to suit each piece. Released on vinyl LP by Denmark's Stunt Records.
