Alex Semprevivo - Art of the Messengers [CD]

Art of the Messengers is a tribute to the music of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers led by Italian drummer Alex Semprevivo. The band features Giovanni Chirico (tenor saxophone), Andrea Perrone (trumpet), Gaetano Carrozzo (trombone), Giorgia Santoro (flute), Angelo Mastronardi (piano) and Paolo Romano (bass), with Jolly Mare on synth.

The repertoire draws on Jazz Messengers material by Duke Jordan, Lee Morgan, Bobby Timmons, Curtis Fuller and Wayne Shorter, in hard bop, soul-jazz and Latin jazz settings, and ends with a Jolly Mare remix of 'No Problem'. Mastronardi produced and co-arranged with Semprevivo.
