Antonio Dominici: Guitar Music [CD]

Roberto Guarnieri – Antonio Dominici: Guitar Music [CD]

Antonio Dominici, a guitarist and composer from Palermo, became the first professional guitarist in Imperial Russia, teaching the aristocracy and the Romanov court in St. Petersburg and Moscow. After the 1917 Revolution he was held in a Bolshevik camp, returning to Italy in 1922 and settling in Turin, where radio made him known as "the Radio guitarist".

His music, handed down in manuscript, ranges from romances and nostalgic melodies to marches, mazurkas and virtuosic fantasias. Guitarist Roberto Guarnieri curates and performs this rediscovery on CD for the Italian label Tactus.

Genre: Classical, Romantic.
